Of this forgery I have all three values
Features common to all three values:
- The white balls in the upper and lower borders (Band A ) are oval and slope downwards from left to right, and the diminishing border containing the leaf pattern is fully 0.5mm wide at the 3 & 9 0' clock positions of the frame line. In the genuine stamp it is only a thin black line at these points.
- BAND B consists pairs of black dashes with a continuous white line between alternating with a series of black colons.
- BAND C is a single white chain on a black background. On my copy this feature is more evident on the upper part of the stamp
- Band D is another single white chain on a black background
- The spaces between the bands are filled with a uniform pattern of black diamond shaped dots.
- At the centre of the stamp between the numerals is a broad band of
black dashes
Features special to individual values:
30 Reis
Characteristics:
- The Head of the figure Three has a small curl at its left extremity and the tail of the figure ends in a round ball whereas in the genuine stamp the tail is divided into two upward pointing curls.
- The leaf pattern in BAND A is very scraggy. In my copy the configuration in the upper border is 3 3 3 1 on the left and 3 3 3 1 0n the right as in the genuine. There is however an additional white dot at each end that is not a feature of the original. In the lower border the arrangement appears to be1 3 3 3 on the left and 3 3 1 on the right with a white dot at each end
- A line drawn downwards through the centre of the ball in the upper border parallel to the frame line would pass to the right of the ball in the lower border.
60 Reis
Characteristics:
- The leaf pattern to the right of the ball in the upper border is 3 2 3 1 instead of 3 3 3 1 as in the genuine.
- A line drawn downwards through the centre of the ball in the upper border parallel to the frame line would pass to the right of the ball in the lower border.
90 Reis
Characteristics:
- The leaf pattern in the upper border is 3 3 3 1 to the left and 2 1 1 1 to the right with a white dot at each end. The leaf pattern in the lower border is, in my copy, obscured by the cancellation
- A line drawn downwards through the centre of the ball in the upper border parallel to the frame line would pass to the right of the ball in the lower border.
